IMPACT OF CAPITAL BUDGETING ON INVESTMENT DECISIONS

This study aims to: (1) assess the role of capital budgeting in making investment decisions, (2) identify the most effective capital budgeting techniques, and (3) evaluate the outcomes of capital budgeting on financial health. A survey design was utilized to collect quantitative data from financial managers and investment analysts. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 375 participants from banking institutions in Abuja was determined, ensuring a representative sample. The banking sector was chosen due to its extensive investment activities and reliance on capital budgeting. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.88. Findings reveal that capital budgeting significantly impacts investment decisions by providing systematic evaluation of potential investments, enhancing financial returns, and minimizing risks. Recommendations include adopting comprehensive capital budgeting practices, investing in advanced capital budgeting tools, and providing training for financial managers on capital budgeting techniques to optimize investment decisions.
